Midterm season is among us, so we decided to take a break with material heavy in neuroscience and turned to a topic not often discussed in your typical Psychology course: cults.
Within this meeting, we began by defining what exactly is a cult and illustrated different types of cults. Following that, we explained why cults work through the methods they employ, specifically mind control. Concluding the meeting, we tried our hand at breakout rooms and did an activity in which the E-board members assigned different cults for our BRAINers to research and discuss. We gathered again at the end and shared our findings, which were both riveting and alarming.
